Now we come to the heart of our course, for I feel that all health, all wellbeing springs forward from the fine art of relaxation. Relaxation keeps us in balance, keeps us living in the present moment. The yogis and the qigong masters have long known of the tricks to the trade for getting into the state of relaxation. To their knowledge we turn to begin our mind body course. What better gift could we learn for our health than the fine art of relaxation?
I know of no human being who does not want to relax. What is a gift we have by nature, just observe the peace of a baby sleeping, we seem to forget as we go along the way. Though our body gives us signals repeatedly that all is not well in our worlds, we ignore the messages. Pushing ourselves beyond our endurance only works for a little while, for the resistance we insist upon living can bring us into illness. When illness hits, we finally get the message, continuing our current state is not okay. If we want change, we have to change. Again, the question is how. Mind body power has the answer here as well. To bring forward change, we do not stress and fret about what is, what exists. Instead, we honor the body as we find it at the moment. We honor the way it is. After all, we’ve had a hand in getting it there. Honoring the body as we find it at the moment allows us into the moment, to work with this moment, to bring forward change.
Mind Body Power Rule #3
I listen to my body and honor what I hear.
Rule #3 for an effective mind body practice is to listen to our body and to honor what we hear. Listening opens the path to change. If we want to create health, we need to learn this skill. Honor the body as we find it at the moment. Watch it change. This rule we take into our yoga practice.
